PMP Exam Tip: The Project Management Plan |
A project management plan is a formal, approved document that defines how the project is executed, monitored and controlled. It may be a summary or detailed document. It also may be composed of one or more subsidiary management plans and other planning documents. The objective of a project management plan is to define the approach to be used by the project team to deliver the intended project management
scope of the project. The project manager creates the project management plan following input from the project team and key stakeholders. The plan should be agreed and approved by at least the project team and its key stakeholders.

Lessons Learned by Anand Narayanan, PMP |
His lessons learned on becoming a PMP shared to us by PM PrepCast student Anand Narayanan, PMP.
I am happy to let you know that I have passed the PMP exam on my first attempt on 2nd Oct 2015 with 3Ps and 2MPs. Here is the way I went about it step by step:
First I went through the PMBOK Guide. It was really tough and it took me about a month to get through it. Even though it's dry and one may not understand much I would still recommend that this is done as the first step as it will give you an idea as to what the PMP examination is all about. Next I bought PM PrepCast (along with PM Exam Simulator) and as a first step I went to forums section to get an idea on how people went about preparing for this exam. One of the things I did right away was to memorize the Process Group/Knowledge area table (PMBOK Guide 5th edition page no
61) and started practicing it whenever I got a chance. I then went through PM PrepCast videos systematically. I really liked Cornelius style of presentation and the way he has organized the course content. I also liked the way Cornelius uses examples to explain concepts, because these examples stick to your mind and you can re-collect them easily. I also prepared my own notes for each chapter as I went through the PrepCast.

accumulates over time. In this lesson, we describe the aspects of the assets, which the project manager has at his or her disposal. We see how organizational process assets can be used throughout the project management process groups and are used in all 10 project management knowledge areas. We look at examples of processes and procedures and discuss the information flow and examples of corporate knowledge bases. We learn how organizational process assets are not static. Project teams
update them as needed.
