Earn PDUs for Writing Project Management Articles

Can I Earn PDUs for Writing Project Management Articles?
Yes you can! Ever since the Project Management Institute (PMI)® published the new Category and Structure for Professional Development Units in March of 2011, earning PDUs has become much easier. This ease is especially visible in Category D “Creating New Project Management Knowledge”: Every hour that you spend creating and / or presenting new project management knowledge counts as 1 PDU.

This means that if you decide to write a project management related article and you invest 3 hours in writing it then you have just earned 3 PDUs. (Please note that there is a maximum of 45 PDUs that you can earn in Categories D, E and F, therefore these 3 hours would count toward that maximum).

Question:
PMP Credential holders in good standing usually keep hosting workshops for new PMP aspirants typically for 4 days @ 9 hours a day. This way they invest 35 hours of their time and effort towards PM education. Now my questions are ....

1.) Can they (the PMP coach) claim PDUs for their CCR maintenance?
2.) If yes, under Cat-A or Cat-B?
3.) Does this submission be supported by any certs?
4.) If yes, What are they? Usually we get PMP training certs at par with trainees? Would it be fine or need a denovo cert?
5.) Non-rep also eligible to conduct workshops?
6.) Planning to set up a training org for PMP aspirants - how to move ahead with this proposal

PDU Tip: Earning PDUs Through Leveraging PDU Activities
In our current series of PDU Tips we are exploring the many ways you can earn PDUs. Today we look at how you can gain PDUs through leveraging your PDU activities.

One of the best ways to proactively plan your PDUs is to get creative and leverage one PDU opportunity upon another. For example, if you attend a PMI Chapter Meeting you will earn 1 PDU in Category A. Why not piggy-back on that PDU opportunity by taking an active role as a volunteer at the registration desk? This will give you credit towards Category E PDUs as it counts towards volunteer service. You’ll be at the Chapter Meeting anyway, so it is a great opportunity to use your time wisely and get the most out of the evening.
